The State Secretary of Tourism of Rio Grande do Norte is the governmental agency responsible for the actions that benefit the development of tourism in the State. The competencies of Setur are: to formulate the policies of tourism in the State, develop studies and surveys to evaluate its tourist potential; maintain a dialog with the municipalities and other administrative agencies of the State, with the objective to develop the infrastructure of basic sanitation, transports and energy in the areas of tourist activities, promoting actions that have to do with the occupation of infrastructure of the State’s tourism, especially during the off season, besides other correlated activities. - Program for the development of the historical cultural patrimony;
- Paving of the streets and urbanization of tourist areas;
- Professional qualification of the local population;
- Implantation of tourist equipment;
- Implantation of the sanitary sewage system ;
- System of solid residue treatment;
- Expansion of the water supply system;
- Protection and conservation of natural resources;
- Institutional development of state agencies;
- Strengthening of municipality administration;
- Elaboration of projects , studies and surveys ;
- Plan for promotion and  marketing tourism;
- Implantation of highways ;
- Tourist information signs;
- Drainage system.
